Noun Phrases
When two elements of a sentence or a text are closely related, they share certain grammatical features.
In noun phrases, articles and adjectives agree with the noun in case, number, and gender.
- Every noun phrase has a head that carries grammatical features. The other elements are dependent carriers.
- The head carrier is the leftmost element with an inflectional ending. This can be an article or an adjective.
- If there is no ending, the next element to the right becomes the head carrier.
